2002 s-10 cruise control stopped working
Hello,
I have a 2002 chevy s-10 stepside that had the cruise control go out about a month ago. Could anyone tell me what all is involved with that cruise system? Could it be a relay that went bad?
Thanks in advance,
CeS

There's no relay. The cruise control module is powered through the 10A Cruise fuse in the I/P fuse block. Keep in mind that it will not engage if it senses the stop lamp switch is closed (automatic transmission) or clutch pedal cruise cut-out switch is closed (M/T).

Hmm, I guess I get too literal sometimes. Does "brake light switch" work for you? When you depress the brake pedal, the switch closes and causes the brake lamps to turn on in the back. The cruise control module taps into the switch circuit to disengage the cruise when the switch is closed. As to the ABS warning indicator, the EBCM also taps into the switch circuit to activate only when the switch is closed. A switch that's permanently stuck closed will cause an illogical condition in the ABS operation. However, you can't be sure that's the culprit unless the trouble code supports the diagnosis.
