Default which would be louder

I have a 99 2dr tahoe with the 5.7 in it. Right now I have the flowmaster 50 series and it is not loud enough. I was thinking about going with the magnaflow 4"x9"x11"body. would that be louder than the flowmaster. Or any other suggestions welcome Register today for free or log-in if already registered to remove this ad!

I have a 97 2 door as well as my 95, the 40 series with dual inlets and outlets sounds great on it. My 95 has 2 seperate 40's on it and the sound is not as good.

From all the experiences I have encountered (my cars, friends cars, etc.) magnaflow sounds awful. The only time I have ever liked it was on a 03 mustang Gt, and how hard is it to make those sound nasty, I mean honestly.

I have had flowmaster with a straight exhaust with a test pipe on the saturn along with other miscellaneous bolt ons and nothing sounded better out of the 4 exhausts on that car. No bull****, it sounded like a zo6 coming for you... except a little bit slower... lol.

I am with evan on this. Flowmaster, or nothing. Especially on a v8.

i have a Flow Master 40 series on my truck its a 5.7 , it sounds real nice , but it will also depend on your piping size , im running 2 and 3/4 and it necks down to 3 inch give a much different sound then stock piping size.

i would go 40s and dont get magnaflow they have issues

i know this is an somewhat old topic, but i thought id give my advice. i have a 90 silverado with the 5.7l. i put on a super 40 single in dual out w/ cut-offs about 5 inches off the muffler and its loud. louder than my brother 5.0 mustang with dual flow 40's cutoff right at both his mufflers. if you want it loud, get the flowmaster super 40's and get cut-off's 6-10 inches off the mufflers. Magnaflow is trash. made my moms 67 mustang w/ a stroked 347 (400hp) sound like a V6.
