do i need to replace cam bearings? pics
here's my old cam from a 95 z71 with a 305cid do i need to replace cam bearings? i still have the block in the truck and i dont want to have to pull it out to do an entire rebuild. i'm just rebuilding the upper end. had a blown head gasket and valve guides were worn out so i sent the heads to get re worked and i figured i'd just rebuild the valve train. i got an rv cam to put in it but i dont know if i should install on the existing cam bearings. what do you guys think?
the pics are from cam gear going towards back of motor.
thanks for your help!

Naw, cam bearings are okay.
<O</OHOWEVER, if this is a high mileage engine (250-300K), I'd sure roll under 'er and throw in a set of inserts tho.
<O</OTightening up the top end on a somewhat "tired" engine really puts a lot of strain on those lower bearings and does hasten their demise.
