Are the OEM tires designed for winter use?

But many who choose a mud/snow type tread don't realize that the wider the Cleats are spaced, the noisier the Tire is on dry pavement, which includes vibration as well. This further emphasizes the "two set" approach as you have chosen, and imperative when Studded.
For winter use, the noise doesn't matter. When I buy tires, they will be specific sets for winter and summer use, with studded tires for the Winter set.
With the sets already mounted on separate rims, it takes me maybe an 40 minutes to change them all, including the time to fetch/put them in the storage. I usually do my own car as well as my girlfriends in an hour if she helps out with the carrying (I have asthma, so I need to pace myself a bit), with time to spare for inspecting the brakes. A good garage jack and electric screw tightener (I have no idea what the English Word is) and it's quick work. Not quite Formula 1 speeds, but still quick.
It would never occur to me to not have two complete sets.
