Hi,
I'm a new member, that is in the process of purchasing an uplander for my business. We currently use chevy Astro cargo for our company.
Wanting a newer look, I loved the idea of the uplander cargo.
My questions what is your experience with the uplander, since i have some doubts after reading reviews on edmunds.
Are they really that bad or have many major common issues. ( tranny slip, abs light, tie rods, tires odd size, dealer parts only, premature brake wear, suspension rattle and my favorite car wont start on a ramp with low fuel)
I got this information from review posted on a few websites main edmunds. I find it hard to believe this van is that bad.
Any input from you guys will be very appreciated.
P.s I really want to get this after looking at a few members pictures.

I own a 2006 Uplander, 3.5L V6 that I bought new. Below is a list of items that I had issues with. As we speak it's @ the dealer having the evaperation vent solenoid replaced @ 93K miles. All these items I consider to be above the normal maintenance. I complained so much to Chevrolet they put me on a 2 year scheduled maintenance program that expired @ 84K miles. They also sent me a voucher for $1,800 towards a new GM product.

Warranty work performed by Chevrolet:
New front brake rotors: 342 miles
Engine Crank shaft seal replaced: 1,896 miles
Right & Left tie rod ends: 16,735 miles
Replaced intermediate steering shaft: 16,735 miles
Replaced radio: 31,734 miles
Warranty expired @ 36,000 miles:

Work performed by Chevrolet paid by me:
Right front wheel sensor which includes hub & bearing assembly: 39,000 miles.
Left front wheel sensor which includes hub & bearing assembly: 47,182 miles
Right wheel sensor wiring harness: 49,587 miles
Replaced Upper bank O2 sensor: 51,329 miles
Replaced right & left tie rod ends again: 74,000 miles

These are the bad things. The good things are ride, comfort, convenience. The engine and most mechanical parts are good. Never a problem with A/C, transmission, etc. Power doors work well also. Knock on wood it still has the original alternator, water pump, struts & shocks.

Good luck with your decision. Be cautious buying a used cargo Uplander.

Had a 2007 uplander. Both front wheel sensors replaced(by chevy), right hand sliding door operator (+/-$800.00), hinge on glove box failed at +/- 60000 miles. Repaired w long strip of Gorilla tape. Always parked under an Oak tree next to my Ford Expedition. Noticed after a few years, Uplander totally covered w little dents (Acorns). 0 on Expedition. Obviously very thin sheet metal. Otherwise OK. I am 6'3, seat not overly comfortable for long trips, minimal padding and back support. Very bad in snow, even with new agressive tires. Always took my other vehicle in these conditions. Otherwise OK vehicle. Leased by my business,had 75,000 miles on it when I turned in when I retired. Don't think I would ever buy this for my own use but served my business purposes. I hauled arround lots of samples and catalogs. The company stopped offering Chrysler Carivans and Uplanders in 2009, now only supplys Ford Explorers. Too many maintance issues w others.
