‘Holy Grail’ 2005 GMC Sierra Quadrasteer Pickup Sells at Auction for Cheap
Despite being quite rare – and touting some desirable features – this Quadrasteer equipped 2005 GMC Sierra sold for pennies on the dollar.
Many GM trucks fans undoubtedly remember “Quadrasteer,” which was a feature that rolled out as an option on certain full-size models in the early 2000s. A bit ahead of its time, Quadrasteer is essentially what we know today as four-wheel steering, which is available on a number of new trucks, and does a great job at vastly improving the turning radius of those larger vehicles. Quadrasteer didn’t stick around for low due to low demand and its high cost, meaning that trucks like this 2005 GMC Sierra equipped with it are quite rare.
Recently, Alex Palmeri of the Legit Street Cars YouTube channel was able to bring home this 2005 GMC Sierra equipped with the rare Quadrasteer option after purchasing it at auction, and it just so happens to be the very last model year one could snag that cool feature. In fact, he paid just $5,700 for the truck at auction – or a little over $6k with fees included – which is a screaming deal for any nice truck in today’s world.
The truck isn’t totally perfect, as it has some scratches and other imperfections, but this still seems like a great deal for a GMT800 generation model of ay kind – let alone one with a rare option. There’s a check engine light illuminated and some slightly concerning noises coming from the engine bay, but otherwise, the truck seems to run very well, and it’s even clean inside the cabin. Clearly, the previous owner took great care of this GMC Sierra, and now, it’s ready for some repairs.
Interestingly, this particular GMC Sierra isn’t an HD model, but it has eight-lug wheels and cab lights, along with the 6.0-liter LS V8 and beefier 4L80 transmission. Palmeri notes that only around 12,000 vehicles left the factory with the Quadrasteer option present, and we have to imagine that not many of them were built in this particular spec, either.
Thus, after a few basic repairs that anyone could replicate at home, it’s running and driving like a top again – making for one heck of a bargain by anyone’s standards.
