With just the right amount of mods, this vintage 1941 Chevy COE is ready for the job site or any number of car shows.

There was a time, decades ago, when trucks were used for nothing more than work – which is precisely why crew cabs weren’t really a thing until more recent times. After all, we had sedans to carry our family to town, and the trucks stayed at the farm, hauling things from point A to point B. These days, old workhorses are becoming more and more popular among hot rodders, however, who appreciate their vintage style and tough construction. This 1941 Chevy COE is the perfect example of that phenomenon, and it’s also going up for grabs at Mecum’s upcoming Kissimmee auction in January, to boot.

We’ve seen our fair share of vintage flat bed trucks that have been restored and/or modified and then used to haul things like old hot rods or motorcycles to car shows, and that’s the first thing that comes to mind when you lay eyes on this beautifully finished 1941 Chevy COE – we can easily see it parked at any number of events, with some sort of old Bow Tie pickup parked on its bed. If that isn’t enough to bring home some hardware, well, we’re not sure what would.

In any event, this vintage COE stands on its own thanks to smooth bodywork covered in black paint, custom pin striping, a custom aluminum bumper and side mirrors, a chrome grille, and some modern wheels wrapped in beefy rubber. This truck isn’t all about style, however – it was also built to work, with the addition of a winch, cab raising pistons for easy access to the engine, and a beefier brake booster.

In terms of power, this old truck is powered by a 7.3-liter V8 mated to an automatic transmission for easy highway cruising, as well as enough power to merge onto those types of roads in today’s horsepower-heavy world. The driver and passenger will be awash in total comfort as well, thanks to a customized red interior with diamond-stitched seats and various other modern amenities. Add it all up, and you’ve got one seriously cool vintage hauler, a big-bodied delight that’s sure to attract attention everywhere it goes – whether that be on its way to the job site or a car show.
