Gorgeous two-tone paint job, wood planks, pinstriping? What more could you ask for in a vintage pickup?

Being able to give an antique vehicle the proper amount of modern touches while keeping some original components is a fine art that only a few can perfect. It’s a tightrope performance that can make or break the entire look and feel of a car. This 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck we found on Hemmings is special because it manages to straddle the line perfectly.

The antique pickup is an absolute head-turner thanks to its two-tone paint job. Instead of going with something bright and flashy, the vehicle features copper over an eggshell white that gives the truck a modern but classic look. The white paint job is further highlighted by some custom touches, which include a shaved hood ornament and custom pinstriping. Wood planks don’t just make the truck’s bed look good, but are fully functional, as well. A gorgeous two-tone paint job, wood planks, pinstriping? What more could you ask for in an antique pickup?

The copper-on-white treatment continues to the inside of the 3100 truck where the bench seat has been reupholstered with new vinyl. As far as modern creature comforts, there’s a custom center console that offers passengers with a pair of cup holders, but not much else. There’s no radio here. There are, though, some original touches that have remained unharmed in the form of stock gauges, including the temperature gauge that’s built into the center stack.

While the exterior and the interior have received some updates, the powertrain remains stuck in 1955, which isn’t a bad thing. Under the hood lies a Chevy 350 cu. in. V8 that’s mostly stock besides the addition of an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and intake manifold. Upgrades have been made to other components, including the alternator, brake master cylinder, and power steering system, to ensure that the 3100 runs smoothly.

The copper icing on the cake is the price for this beauty: $39,995. That, to us, makes this a steal, as it has updated components, a bespoke paint job, and the same engine it would have had back in ’55. That’s a win-win.
