What better way can you honor someone’s memory than with a beautifully restored 1955 Chevy Truck?

Every single one of us has a reason for owning our particular classic vehicle. Some save up their money for years to buy the car they fell in love with or owned back in their younger days. Others strive to buy the cars their parents or grandparents once drove. And for some, restoring and driving vintage iron pays homage to a loved one no longer with us. Such is the case with John Hoisington of Anaheim, California.

After Hoisington’s mother passed away following a battle with cancer in 2010, he decided to restore his 1955 Chevy truck to honor her legacy. Today it serves as both his daily driver and as a vehicle to spread the word about early detection and cancer awareness. It’s a cause noble enough to warrant a feature from Classic Industries, which profiled the truck and Hosington’s story on their website.

As for the truck itself, the overall theme is classy and simple. From the solid white paint and smooth body to the shiny chrome, this old Chevy is all about class. Hoisington did drop the suspension a bit, so now the truck hugs its staggered 19-inch wheels with an aggressive stance.

Powering the vintage ride is a 327 Chevy small block with performance parts including ceramic headers, a bigger carb, and an MSD ignition. The powerplant is backed up by a TH350 transmission for easy cruising. And it certainly does a lot of that, as John drives the truck every day. It’s a fitting and touching tribute to an important person in his life, and hopefully a catalyst for saving the lives of many others along the way.
