This 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier has been transformed into a mobile cabin on wheels that’s both quirky and cool.

These days, the Chevy Cavalier is long gone, just another relic from the past that has since joined the big automotive graveyard in the sky. But for quite a few years, the Cavalier was a common sight on our roads, a cheap and economical mode of transportation that many of us owned as our first cars or even just efficient daily drivers. However, this 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier up for grabs on Facebook Marketplace is unlike any other compact sedan on the planet, we can safely say, because it has been converted into a mobile ice shack for obvious reasons.

Located in Maine, this 1986 Chevrolet Cavalier has been converted into a mobile ice shack for fishing purposes. As one might imagine, ice fishing requires some shelter from the elements, and typically, those that engage in these activities have tents, huts, or far more extravagant ways of accomplishing that goal. However, the owner of this wild rig had something completely different in mind, and they built a true one-off mobile shack.

Aside from the front clip, one would be hard-pressed to tell that this cabin on wheels started life as a Cavalier, mostly because all of that stuff has been replaced by a tiny home of sorts. We say that because you could legitimately live in this thing for a while, thanks to its traditional stud/plywood construction, corrugated roof, windows, and even a large wood stove for cooking food and providing warmth in the frigid Maine winters.

What’s truly quirky about this incredibly quirky ride, however, is that it’s still drivable. That likely won’t be terribly easy, however, because the steering wheel is mounted on the wall and you have to look out of the front window to see where you’re going, with visibility that’s seemingly worse than any actual automobile.

But for the low asking price of just $2k, we imagine that someone can find some use for it, and we think it’s worth spending that kind of money if for no other reason than eliciting some wild reactions from everyone that sees it tooling around.
