2000 Monte Carlo SS: Junkyard ‘Gem’ or Backyard Trash?

Chevy Monte Carlo SS Once Ruled the Road Until the… Wait, It Never Ruled the Road. But It Did Have Lots of NASCAR Stickers!

They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. They also say that one man’s trash is also another man’s trash. Because there are some things that despite temptation, aren’t worth picking up and bringing home.

Could that be the case of this dilapidated 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo SS? The folks at MSN Autos have chosen to feature this junkyard gem, though we’re still trying to figure out the “gem part. The once defunct Monte Carlo was brought back to life in 1994, and it quickly appealed to a segment buyer that no longer exists—the American two-door grand tourer. Not fast enough to compete with the Mustangs and Camaros (stock), the Monte Carlo was all about showboating.

This particular junkyard princess seems to have been fitted with a few factory options. The disloyal owners that abandoned it shelled out bucks for two-tone red and black leather seats, and graphics galore. Though we don’t know if those are factory or simply Autozone’s special. What we do know is stock is the Looney Tunes “Taz” decal on the Monte Carlo badge.

No mention of the mechanical condition of this NASCAR wannabe was mentioned, so we’ll assume it’s non existent. Still, would you want to rescue this junkyard gem, or would you let mother nature continue eroding the once American badass?
