Silverado will be available in 2WD & 4WD & powered by Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engine with 350 horsepower & 700 lb.-ft. of torque.

With a new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado set to bow this fall, Chevrolet’s answered the beckoning call of commercial outfitters looking to add even more capable and heavy-duty work trucks to their fleets. For 2019, a new family of grown-up 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD models will fortify Chevy’s ultra-heavy duty pickup lineup.

The manufacturer suggested retail prices for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado chassis cab trucks will start at $48,465, Chevrolet recently announced. (This includes a $1,495 destination charge, but excludes taxes, title, and additional dealer fees.) Customers can visit one of more than 400 Chevrolet commercial medium duty dealers to customize and price the all-new work truck. Production will begin in late 2018.

“These new Silverado chassis cabs are a great addition to our lineup because we can now offer small businesses and large fleets a truck that can be upfitted to do many jobs, including construction, utility, and landscape work; tow truck operations; first responder calls, and more,” said Ed Peper, U.S. V.P., GM Fleet. “Chevrolet was obsessed with making these Silverado trucks easy to upfit, drive, and own.”

Available in Regular and Crew Cab form, with two-wheel or four-wheel drive, all chassis cabs are powered by a Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 making 350 horsepower and 700 monstrous lb.-ft of torque. This engine continues to work with Allison transmissions, and features an optional power-takeoff (PTO).

‘Chevrolet was obsessed with making these Silverados easy to upfit, drive, and own.’

Similar to setups seen on common farm tractors, the Silverado’s PTO harnesses the truck’s transmission and engine power, to separately operate various worksite equipment, like water pumps, generators, stone cutters, or hole-drilling systems.

While all three HD models appear similar, the top 6500HD is rated to a Titanic-esque 22,900 lbs. GVWR.

“Bucket truck builders, fleet managers, and many other customers told us they face a dilemma when their GVWR needs exceed 19,500 lbs.,” said John Schwegman, director of Commercial Product and Medium Duty at GM Fleet. “Some pay for expensive aluminum bodies to save weight so they can stay with a Class 5 chassis. Others may spend $10,000 or more to purchase a larger truck with much more GVWR than they need. The Silverado 6500HD gives them capability and protects their bottom line. It’s a great solution.”

Options for the upcoming Silverado chassis cabs include a 63.5 gallon fuel tank, rear air suspension, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and heated seats.

Pricing for 4500HD chassis cab models begins at $48,465 and rises to $55,580 for a top 4WD Crew Cab configuration. 5500HDs follow suit with starting MSRPs at $51,100 climbing to $58,216, while the big dog 6500HD commands a base $54,575 and barks up to $61,245.
