Days of Blunder: Chevy Silverado Towed From Bottom of Lake

Fishermen sunk Chevy Silverado

After the driver made one teeny huge mistake the Silverado sank. Video captures a crazy–but very cool–discovery and rescue mission.

We came across this video that recently posted online, and it immediately caught our attention. First, it features a Chevy Silverado, so…we’re already in. Unfortunately, this particular red pickup is currently bobbing in the middle of a lake. Frustrating and nutty as all this is, the story of how the Silverado ended up there is just the cherry on top.

Posted by ViralHog, the video is from Gun Barrel City, Texas. A group of fishermen came across something a little odd.

We just hope someone had the good sense to say “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

Soon a rescue was underway. The cavalry has gathered at the boat ramp and includes tow trucks and–of course–a Chevy Silverado! While the narrator of the video is not identified, he captures the action. Plus, he has all the deets on the also-unidentified driver.

“Two-week-old truck,” he says. “Forgot to take it out of drive. Checking out the ramp…next thing you know: Bloop! Truck in the water.”

True story.

All things considered, the tow goes pretty smoothly. It gets caught on the ramp, but the group of volunteers help right the truck. One it starts rolling up the dock, it is pretty surprising how well the Silverado weathered the dip. We’re not sure how long it was underwater, but it looks good. Oh, it is totaled, but it does go out in style.

Okay, we’re all human. Mistakes happen. But when it comes to finding a perfect spot to gaze at the majestic lake, just pick a place that isn’t the boat ramp. Or any ramp or decline, really.

Actually, the video could just be named “This is what happens when you don’t put it in park.” Well, we do hope the driver was well insured, and has a sense of irony and humor.

Check it out, and enjoy when they release the Kraken.
