Final Edition Chevy SS Could Get Huge Power Bump

Heads up, everything you’re about to read could be a pile of poo poo, but if true, it could be seriously good news for fans of the American Chevy SS and the Australian Holden Commodore.

According to GM Authority, rumors from inside the plant where the Commodore and SS are built, lead us to believe that General Motors is master-minding something special for the final run of the super sports sedan. Well, at least what we believe will be the final run, as that has yet to be confirmed as well.

In what’s already a web of rumors, power figures of nearly 580 horsepower surrounds the final and upcoming model, but it’s how the SS could get to such output that’s really the big news. Speculators have reason to believe that Chevy plans on fitting the 6.2 liter LSA Supercharged V8 under the hood. If that’s the case, it’d be the first time a Chevy-badged sedan features a supercharged engine on American shores.

Sadly, sales of the SS are still slumping, and we’re just grateful that Chevy hasn’t pulled the plug on selling this muscle sedan in the States.
