Enthusiast site chats with NCM’s new president at the dawn of the C8 era, and as the museum prepares to celebrate 25 years, Aug. 28-31.

Did you know that the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year? Where has the time gone? One moment, we still had an MTV that played music videos while the C4 Corvette was going strong. The next, we’re steaming new videos on YouTube and the Corvette goes mid-engine for the first time in its life.

In honor of the NCM’s silver celebration, scheduled for August 28 through 31 at the museum, our friends over at Corvette Forum — who are celebrating their own 20th anniversary, by the way — journeyed to Kentucky to meet with the new and retiring presidents in an exclusive you’ll only find at Corvette Forum.

“When this position became available, it seemed like a pretty good match with the direction the museum is heading,” Dr. Sean Preston, the new NCM president, told Corvette Forum, “which is more of an educational slant, a little less of a building with just cars in it, but actually a story about the cars.”

The interview goes in-depth into Dr. Preston’s background, how he came to become the one to take hold of the flame from retiring president Wendell Strode, and what his vision is for the finest Corvette museum in the world going forward.

We also learn he was in attendance for the C8 Corvette’s unveiling, and reveals we’ll be seeing a lot more of the new car in the coming months leading up to the first showroom arrivals.

[The C8] looks unmistakably Corvette,” Dr. Preston told Corvette Forum. “There’s no doubt that it’s a Corvette; it doesn’t look like anything else other than a Corvette.”

There’s so much more from this exclusive, too, including what to expect during the festivities for the NCM’s silver celebration. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for our friends, since they’ll be there to cover the anniversary. In the meantime, go read this interview with Dr. Preston now!
