Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they just dress up a modern Chevy pickup perfectly. And this dealership will customize your current-gen Silverado.

Sometimes, dealerships get right what Chevy has overlooked. After Minnesota’s Blake Greenfield Chevrolet Buick absolutely nailed the throwback look on this 2014 Silverado, the dealership has decided that they will customize any 2014-and-later Chevy truck with the same look for $5,995, The Drive reports.

The customization recreates the two-tone Cheyenne trim of Chevy’s C/K pickups from the 1970s. Those trucks, which spanned both the Action Line and Rounded Line (aka “Square Body”) generations, featured two-tone paint, most notably. The original Cheyennes swung toward the luxury end of pickups with improved interiors and nicer trim.

The Blake Greenfield dealership took in this ‘14 Silverado and Greenfield himself thought up the idea when he saw how the color resembled the one used in the Square Body Cheyenne. The two-tone paint and overall presentation provides a reasonable facsimile, which is amazing given how auto design has changed in 40 years. Somehow, it all just works.

The modern Silverado grille recalls the egg-crate ‘70s grille well enough and the new truck’s tall bumper complements it well. The white steelies and tire lettering make wonderful touches on the concept. We also find the Cheyenne Super C10 badge on the fender and retro tailgate lettering completely awesome.

It’s an appearance-only package, sure, but Blake Greenfield is clearly onto something here. We like modern trucks’ capabilities just fine, but they lack the subtle grace of a good 1970s custom finish. The dealership is already in the middle of customizing a red ‘17 Silverado, but we expect truck owners will be chomping at the bit for a fresh Cheyenne paint scheme on their trucks.

What color would you want your modern Cheyenne? Tell us in the forums.

Maybe with Chevy rolling out a special centennial truck, we might see the Bowtie offering some similar throwback truck paint schemes in the near future.
