Diverse Chevy Truck Lineup Lands at Hot Wheels Legends Tour
We soaked up the summer heat in Bentonville, Arkansas to bring you the many incredible Chevy trucks in attendance.
There are many, many car and truck shows that take place across this great nation every year. But our favorite of the bunch might just be the Hot Wheels Legends Tour. Mainly because it combines our childhood fascination with cars and trucks with our adulthood fascination with, well, cars and trucks. So of course we here at Chevrolet Forum jumped at the chance to attend the Legends Tour’s latest stop in Bentonville, Arkansas. And like all other Chevy fans in attendance, we weren’t disappointed.
The number and overall diversity of Chevy trucks that rolled in on this super hot Northwest Arkansas morning was nothing short of incredible. Despite the 110-degree heat index, hundreds of fans lined the parking lot as early as 7 a.m., a full hour before the show officially started. And their reward for a little sweat was certainly worth the trade off. The first vehicles that caught our eye, in fact, were two very cool yet very different Blazers.
One, a beautifully detailed rig with perfect red paint and a chromed-out engine bay. The other, a camo-painted machine with custom tubular bumpers. Both Blazers sat high on massive lifts, with giant knobby tires. And both, well, were simply incredible. But we also couldn’t help but find ourselves smitten with a killer C-20 utility truck sitting out back. The classic patina’d rig was lowered on steel wheels, with a fitting Garfield tribute painted on the doors.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we came across one of the wildest things we’ve ever seen. This 1971 El Camino packs a 650 hp, 502 cubic-inch big block under the hood. But in the bed, it also sports a pair of Pratt & Whitney jet engines. This incredible machine was actually purchased by Hot Wheels back in 2012 for use at their test facility, and it made an appearance in the stunt-filled web series Hot Wheels: World’s Best Driver.
The main point of the Legends Tour, of course, is that one vehicle is chosen in each city as the overall winner. All 18 winners then head to the 2019 SEMA show, where one lucky vehicle is chosen to become immortalized in die-cast form. And the Bentonville pick wasn’t a Chevy, but it does pack a Chevy small block for power. And even though it isn’t technically a Bow Tie, this drag racing International pickup is most certainly cool.
From mild to wild and everything in between, Hot Wheels Legends Tour Bentonville certainly had something for every Chevy fan. And with eight more stops to go, you’ve still got a chance to attend at least one of them. You can find the remaining schedule for 2019, as well as info on past winners, by heading over here!
