Mecum Auctions Vintage truck Chevy GMC

Over 100 vintage trucks will be auctioned next month, and the collection features some beautiful Chevy and GMC trucks.

Auctions are a great place to catch some amazing survivors. Back in August we discussed this awesome K10 Cheyenne short-bed with a two-tone paint job. And in April this badass C10 graced us with its presence. Obviously, auctions are also used to sell historically significant vehicles too, which is what allowed the final C7 Corvette to be sold for an eye-popping $2.7 million. Auctions are cool, is what we’re trying to say.

Next week will allow many people the opportunity to bid on a plethora of vintage farm-related tractors and equipment. In a bit of a twist, they’ll also be able to participate in Mecum Auctions first vintage truck offering, which will be part of the 2019 Gone Farmin’ Fall Premier at the Mississippi Valley Fair Center in Davenport Iowa. If you’re in the area between Nov. 6-9 you probably don’t want to miss it.

Sadly, this auction doesn’t feature a wide variety of GM trucks. But the ones that are up for bidding are pretty stellar examples of their respective model lineups. This 1949 Chevrolet 4400 Stake Bed is among the best of the entire group. According to the description, the truck received an extensive restoration in 2017 and as a result it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. The restoration even included a custom livery on the doors to make it as period correct as possible. As part of the restoration, the truck is now equipped with a 12 volt electrical system. That allowed the truck to receive an upgraded fan and radiator. Overall, it’s a stunning piece of machinery.

If that last truck was too big for your needs, this 1953 Chevrolet 3100 pickup might fit the bill. Unfortunately, there’s no information about the truck’s history on the listing, but we don’t need words to convey what we already know: That this is an excellent example of early 50s Americana. Judging by the condition, it’s probably undergone a restoration at some point. Regardless, it looks really good to our eyes.

But the cream of the crop just might be this 1977 Chevrolet C20 Camper Special. As GM’s first factory-built crew cab, the truck occupies a unique space in pickup truck history. It took about two more decades after this beast was constructed before crew cabs really captivated the American truck shopper. That’s what makes this truck quite special. According to Mecum’s dedicated page on the Chevy, this particular example recently received a restoration that brought it back in line with the original factory specifications. The 454 big-block V8 and Turbo Hydramatic three speed transmission are all-original too. We envy whoever ends up with this spectacular piece of automotive history.

If you’re in the Davenport area between November 6-9, the 2019 Gone Farmin’ Fall Premier sounds like the place to be. Over 2,000 signs and other farm related artifacts will be auctioned. More than 600 tractors form the bulk of the auction, making it the largest in Gone Farmin’ history. And of course there’s the vintage trucks. In addition to the featured trucks, a number of historically significant models from Ford will be auctioned, including an example of their first heavy-duty truck. The truck auctions take place on November 7 and 9. Head to the official page for more information.
