Fuel gauge moves on startup but never moves while in use
2010 Silverado 1500 5.3 LT has codes (abs, oil pressure sensor) but not related to anything fuel related
Ive taken every fuse out and they are all good, the trucks fuel gauge needle does it’s little “sweep” on startup aka engine off key on it goes from resting position to a quarter tank and never moves above or below that when filled or used so I know the instrument cluster motor works for that gauge and I would really appreciate anyone’s help.
From what Google says I am looking to get a new fuel level sensor as they’re cheap enough but I’d rather not pull the bed again. Same goes for checking things with a multimeter, I don’t have one and don’t know how to use one and I literally just put the bed back on..
I would like to check grounds but I do not know where to look for them relating to the fuel pump to clean up and check so any help or if anyone knows a video to this generation truck showing the ground locations that would be great thanks

Try using a can of either Seafoam or Techron in a tank of gas once or twice. Had same problem with a Vette once and it worked. Evidently the copper contacts in the sending unit can get corroded and cause faulty readings. Worth a shot!
Hey thank you, Yes it worked super recently which is the frustrating thing. I removed the bed to replace the forward leaf spring hanger and just put the heavy A bed back and I already dropped the tank previously when I did grinding and welding on the truck and thoroughly made sure every plug was plugged into the fuel tank on install. After everything the fuel gauge worked great down to when I ran it to the gas light up to when I filled it up to a quarter tank and ever since then it has stayed in that exact spot and I have ran it out of gas completely not knowing where it’s at and filled it and no difference. I have also disconnected the battery for a while and put it back with no difference. Googles advice is to clean up every ground and different things but the thing is, it was JUST working so I’m not sure if that would make sense to do aside from maintenance. Any help super appreciated
