1959 Chevrolet Apache

Gorgeous 1959 Chevy Apache restomod is a tough light-duty truck with exceptional style and performance.

This is a truck don’t see all everyday. It might not necessarily be a one-of-a-kind, but it’s not exactly something you’ll find in the daily classifieds or on Craigslist. This 1959 Ford Apache, originally from Chevy’s Task Force, is up for sale at Classic Cars for a cool 25K. And cool is the word. Painted in a sleek teal, also called ‘Neptune Green,’ with the body work and the engine completely restored.

A few of the details shown in the listing include a 350 Chevy small block, automatic transmission on the floor, dual exhaust, new heating and air-conditioning systems, new suspension, power steering, and power brakes.
The Chevrolet Task Force was Chevy’s successor to their ‘Advance Design’ trucks. Also known as The Blue Chip Series, the Task Force Series ran from late-1955 through 1959. The 1955 second series offered standard options and add-ons such as 12-volt electrical systems, the first V8 (the 265 cubic inch) engine, and fleet-side beds varying in length from six to eight-feet. It is interesting to note that it was in this generation of the Task Force Series that power steering and brakes first became available starting in 1955.

It was also during this time that air-conditioning became available and which we, of course, take for granted these days. But back before the 1959 model, the only A/C in an Apache came from a rolled-down window. Throughout the second half of the ’50s, Chevy changed the head lights, grille, and hood of its trucks to the type seen on this Apache.

This line of trucks also has some pretty cool names with some pretty serious gravitas to fit their style. In addition to the Apache, the medium and heavy duty trucks were named “Viking” and “Spartan” respectively.
