Chevrolet Forum takes a look at three off-road trails from across the country that deserve your four-wheeling miles and smiles.

We’ve found out that when you ask an off-road enthusiast about the most amazing off-road trails, a few names are repeated. Moab, Rubicon, and the Imperial Sand Dunes of California certainly rank as some of the more popular answers, but we felt like there are a few trails that are really worth a visit.

Rausch Creek Off-Road Park, Pine Grove, Pennsylvania

Chevrolet Silverado Off-Road

Because we’ve mentioned Moab, we’ll highlight Rausch Creek Off-Road Park first. Located in the center of Pennsylvania, Rausch Creek is called the “Moab of the East”, and offers a variety of terrains to test your skills off the beaten path. Because most of America’s renowned trails are in the Rockies, or on the West Coast, this trail is far more convenient for the large contingent of East Coast off-road enthusiasts.

Engineer Pass, Lake City, Colorado

Chevrolet Silverado Off-Road

Things get considerably more scenic with our next pick, which is the Engineer Pass. Part of the Alpine Loop in Lake City, Colorado, this trail is challenging and narrow, with amazing views of the Rockies. Connecting with the Cinnamon Pass, the Engineer Pass needs a vehicle with considerable ground clearance, which indicates the level of difficulty you can expect on this trail. Instead of being an off-road park, this trail links old mining facilities and ghost towns. It’ll take you some time to complete this one, as it’s more than 60 miles in length.

Redington Pass, Tucson, Arizona

Chevrolet Silverado Off-Road

Redington Trail, just outside of Tuscon, Arizona is last, but certainly not least on our list. Open fall, winter and spring, this seasonal trail has thousands of feet of elevation changes, and is moderately difficult to traverse. Several campgrounds are along the route if you’re planning on staying along the trail, but you’re also quite close to Tucson for any needs that may arise. If you wanted to climb ever higher, there’s a highway leading all the way to the summit of Mount Lemmon.

For us, these three trails offer spectacular views, challenging trails and a way to really get to know your Chevy. And although it may be winter, it’s never too early to start planning those summer off-road adventures.
