Redesigned 2027 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra Will Debut This Year
The all-new 2027 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will be unveiled soon, ushering in a wide array of updates for both pickups.
The current, fourth-generation Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra debuted for the 2019 model year, ushering in a host of updates for the popular pickups. However, the light-duty full-size truck space is a hotly contested one in the U.S., meaning that automakers tend to update those models a bit more frequently than most. The GM pickup twins received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year that added a bunch of meaningful updates, but now, we’re on the cusp of seeing the redesigned fifth-generation 2027 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra arrive as well.
We’ve known for quite some time that the 2027 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra would debut sporting comprehensive updates, but we didn’t know when, exactly, GM would pull the covers off either of them. Now we know, as the automaker stated that “Chevrolet and GMC will reveal the new Silverado and Sierra this year” in its Q4 2025 earnings report. That still doesn’t narrow things down by much, but at least we have confirmation that new versions of those pickups are coming soon.
As for what we can expect from the redesigned Silverado and Sierra, well, those changes are expected to be rather significant. That includes a totally new exterior design that borrows clues from the company’s full-size SUV lineup – the Tahoe/Suburban and Yukon – and the Silverado’s exterior has already leaked via a trademark filing, giving us a clear look at what we can expect from it.
The interior of these trucks will get equally massive upgrades in terms of the latest GM offerings for screens, infotainment software, and materials. However, more substantial tweaks are taking place underneath that skin, including an updated version of the existing T1 platform, dubbed T1-2. It’s expected to provide a number of improvements over the outgoing architecture, such as in the departments of ride quality and capability.
While much of the current Sierra and Silverado’s engine lineup is expected to carry over to the all-new versions, many believe that the all-new, Gen 6 small block V8 engine will debut in these models as well. It’s unclear what that new V8 will have to offer at the moment, but it stands to reason that its design will enhance performance and efficiency while also resulting in a reduction in emissions, too.
