Silverado Receives Mild Updates for 2016

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71. Available fall of 2015.

For the 2016 model year, the Chevrolet Silverado is receiving a few minor updates. The General’s best-selling pickup truck continues to see sales dominance with very little in terms of change. The refresh for 2016 includes a few notable changes, but nothing too dramatic.

The all-new front end features a new grille, sculpted headlights, and a new set of daytime running lights. Chevrolet claims it gives the truck a “more muscular appearance.” The current Silverado front end is pretty flat; this one looks like it’s trying to curve more like the Colorado.

As far as we can tell, the rest of the truck’s appearance remains unchanged.

The powertrain will see the use of an 8-speed automatic transmission in more applications, but there will be no new engines or other options. The competition at Ram Trucks uses an 8-speed automatic, while Ford uses a 6-speed automatic (until their 10-speed becomes readily available).

The MyLink system will support Android Auto and Apple’s Car Play technologies, as part of a rollout to a majority of 2016 Chevrolet vehicles.

The truck will officially debut later this fall, with an onsale date shortly after.
