Silverado Trail Boss Conquers the Trails Like a Boss

Take a trip back to 2018 to see the 2019 Silverado Z71 Trail Boss tackle every possible obstacle in this manufacturer demo.

Welcome back to “Off-roading Wednesdays” on Chevrolet Forum! Every week, we look through YouTube to bring you the coolest clips of Chevy trucks and SUVs (and their owners) having fun in the great outdoors. Anything to brighten your day with a little golden Bow Tie!

This week, we hop into our time machine to early August of 2018, when the fourth-generation Silverado was just hitting the production line for the first time. YouTube channel Driving the Nation filmed a manufacturer demo at the Refuge at Alpine Airpark in Alpine, Wyoming on the Wyoming-Idaho border, their focus upon the Trail Boss trim.

Rolling off the runways of the airpark, the Trail Boss bounces along some unfinished lumber embedded within the earth. Not much of a challenge, but that’s only the beginning.

Next, the Trail Boss goes deep into the gravel pit before climbing up the mountain of loose dirt ahead. Alas, the driver didn’t get enough speed before tackling the next obstacle, digging the wheels down into the hill. After backing it up and trying again, though, the Chevy-powered through to the next section.

The Trail Boss rounds the bend to bounce upon bigger rocks than the pebbles before. The truck easily makes short work of the boulders, allowing the driver to charge forth into the final stage.

One final corner, and it’s a muddy one for the Trail Boss. The camera nearly gets an eyeful of muddy water splashed upon it as the truck rushes through. The spectacular display manages to draw a few cheers and laughs from everyone gathered.

There’s nothing like seeing a new generation of a Chevy truck get to have fun in a product demo before the whole world gets a chance to conquer every trail around. And of course, there’s no better setting to demonstrate the prowess of a new Chevy than the open skies of a residential airpark in the mountainous backcountry of the West. If only every demo could be held in such an amazing backdrop.
