The Chevy Reaper Pretends to Tear Up the Desert

The joint venture of performance powerhouse, Lingenfelter and custom vehicle builder, Southern Comfort Automotive, yielded a specialty pickup called the Chevy Reaper.

The Reaper enjoyed relative popularity in 2014 not because of its good looks, but perhaps because a production hiatus on behalf of the Ford Raptor. Nonetheless, the Reaper features a Magnuson supercharger strapped to the Silverado’s stock 5.3 or 6.2 liter V8, which manages to pump a feisty 475 and 550 horsepower respectively.

This Hammerhead shark looking thing deploys adjustable Fox racing shocks, and in the words of Mike CopelandVP of Operations at Lingenfelter, “this truck is designed to drive off-road anywhere you wanna go”. I don’t know about ‘anywhere’, Mike, but the Reaper’s suspension and tire setup looks rugged enough to go most places.

Putting its not very charming looks aside, I’m sure the Reaper is a heck of a truck and probably a blast to drive around. In the end, living in the shadows of the wildly successful and desirable Ford Raptor ain’t easy, but until the 2017 model rolls out the Reaper can enjoy  a bit of fame.

Also, why in the world were they driving so slow on this video?
