1993 Chevy 1500 Engine & Transmission Swap Fuel Economy
Hello everyone, I've recently had a need for a car that gets good fuel economy. I've been looking at hybrids and stuff, but I have an automatic 93 Chevy 1500 sitting in my yard that isn't in terrible shape. It currently has a 5.7l engine and a bad transmission. I've seen tons of threads and tutorials on people rebuilding these trucks to make more power, but I can't find any that have made them more economical. I'm not really sure if it would even be worth the effort, but I feel like there has to be a way to get some pretty good mpg out of it. I'm looking at completely replacing the engine, transmission, and anything else needed to avoid driving a Prius. What would you guys go for if the end goal was mpg with power as a bonus? I'm open to any ideas.
