Default 1994 1500 sat for 3 years

I recently inherited my grandfather's 1994 GK1 Chevy and have hopes of fixing it up to create new memories with my family (first one on the way).
I Picked up the truck (which would not start after sitting for 3 years) and towed it to a mechanic, to which they replaced the fuel pump and battery and cleaned the gas tank. They called and said it ran so I picked it up and upon first crank it wouldn't start. Second crank and it started right up and I was able to drive the 3.4 miles home. Once home I turned off the truck and when I went to turn it back on it would crank but no signs of starting. I instantly smelled gas upon each crank. Before I tow it back to the shop for attempt 2, what might I be looking for?
There is plenty of rust under the body and old fuel definitely sat in the tank for all those years before it was transported here for the recent service.

Thank you

I would do a full tune up - plugs, cap rotor, plug wires; fuel & air filter if they were not changed; maybe ICM in distributor as well. Smelled gas - check for fuel line leaks too

I've got a 1996 C1500, and it sat for MOST of the past 3 years, but I did crank it up and drive a mile or two every few months, charge the battery periodically, and put some stabilizer in the gas tank. The engines on those are pretty robust, so I suspect its as the others mention.

Is it a throttle body injection (TBI) system, or does it have a carburetor? Almost sounds flooded if you are smelling gas...
