Default 1994 c2500 5.0 305 TBI distributor question

I have a 1994 c2500 5.0 305 TBI. I just bought a new distibutor and am installing it. I have the TDC mark lined up. All I need to do is point the rotor towards the number 1 contact right? Just need to know if I'm missing anything.

Yes. If you didn’t rotate the engine after removing the old distributor, the slot that lines up with the oil pump drive shaft will let you know when it’s in the right spot. The distributor won’t fully seat unless that slot lines up, so if it stops about 1/2” above the manifold, try rotating it 1 tooth in either direction and see if that works.

At TDC it also has to be on the compression stroke before pointing rotor at number 1 or you could be 180 degrees off.
