1995 K1500 Silverado cab needs rear window sealantntnting
I believed that I had isolated rear cab water leak due to a faulty 3rd brake light seal being defective. I replaced but I am still getting a much smaller leak in back floor of cab. I suspect rear window seal needs to be resealed. 31 years is a long time. However, there seems to be some sort of clip or molding around rear window that I should remove. Is there a special tool to remove this in order to access the older sealant?????? I don't want to use incorrect tool and damage molding.
I don't have an answer for you, but will be watching closely, since I have similar issues with my 1996. I replaced the 3rd brake light with a cheap piece of crud from China off Amazon, and it has a bad seal that leaks. I've still got the original light, and am thinking of just reworking all the sockets that were corroded in it, and buying some type of foam gasket material to match the original.
I dealt with a leak in the windshield, but not the rear window (yet). Good luck with that.

Right now, I have duct tape covering the hole, but a very small amount of water is getting through. Before the old light removal and duct tape replacement, my back carpet was soaked after each raining. Now, just a little... I tried finding seal replacement but had NO good luck.

If you find a source of the rear window seals and rubber, be sure to post it here. I'm planning to paint my 1996 and was to replace all the door and window seals, weather stripping, and etc.

I can run a bead of black roofing urethane between metal and glass but I need to remove the plastic cap (molding I guess) that is pressed in or onto glass. I was hoping that there is a special tool I can use instead of possibly breaking the old plastic.
Yeah, I don't know if there is a tool or not for that, and it would be nice if new molding was available for that rear window. I've been looking as I was thinking of pulling everything out to paint the truck myself, but I've not found it yet.
I can confirm that the seal around the rear window shrinks and leaks. A glass shop charged me $100ish 6 years ago to remove and reinstall the rear window with new sealant and I have been dry since. They did say that there is a chance they would break the glass removing it, and said that it took 1 senior guy and three assistants to get it out without breaking it.
