1995 Silverado 5.7 died on freeway. Crank but no start
My 1995 5.7 cranks but no start. I believe is not getting gas. I can here noise coming from fuel pump, normal noise. I been working on emissions lately due to black soot on ground after starting truck, rough surging idle and poor gas milage. I've replaced oxygen sensor, map, I cleaned out the catalytic converter, adjusted timing. I got it to quit surging pretty much after doing this. Surges some at a stop and sometimes dies. Could it be my fuel pressure regulator on the carburetor? Fuel sensor? I've replaced the fuel filter also. Today was first day no check engine light came on/off like it was. I was driving downhill on freeway and suddenly I noticed I had no acceleration. So I put it in neutral and tried to start while still rolling. It just cranked over but no start. I did smell fuel in air filter when I removed air cleaner today. Any help is appreciated . This is my work truck so I don't work till it runs. Thanks again from an old army vet
