Default 1996 Chevy C1500 5.7L won't start. Code P1351

I've got a 1996 Chevy pickup with the Vortec 350 that won't start. It cranks, hesitates, then cranks again but won't fire up. It's getting fuel to the throttle body and it backfired when starter fluid was used. It seems to be getting fuel and spark.

I scanned it and the only code it comes up with is P1351. "Ignition control circuit voltage high/Ignition control circuit open."

Prior to this issue, it seemed to be hesitating before it would start. It would crank, pause, and then fire up. Once started, it was running great. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

P1351 CHEVROLET Possible Causes

  • Faulty Ignition Control Module
  • Ignition Control Module harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition Control Module circuit poor electrical connection
