I didn't think a six lug k2500 was still available in 97, but I could be wrong. If it has 8 lugs it's a 9.25. If it's 6 lugs it could be either.

Anyone have clear instructions on replacing the seals? I have the 9.25. I thought that I saw a good video on youtube.com but cannot find it. My right side is leaking.

the right side stub shaft is not meant to be hammered out on vehicle. unbolt the axle tube

unbolt the cv shaft and lower
unplug diff connector and loom clips
remove the right diff nuts. loosed the 2 diff bolts to allow the right side to tilt down
remove the axle tube bolts and axle tube
with the axle shaft and tube on a bench..tap out the shaft with a soft faced hammer...replace seal.
