1997 6.5L Turbo Diesel Surging
176,000
Relocated D-Tech PMD about five years ago to fender with heat sink
Intermittent surging starts after running, after warm up
but will surge in park too
No problem starting or stalling,
Engine Check Light is on
Always maintained, regularly change air and fuel filter
Use Stanadyne in fuel on a regular basis

my buddy had a 96 ext shortt bed with the same engine
it ran great except when it didnt
some years ago it got caught in florida flooding era...the fuel tanks down there were flooded and they pumped water and fuel mix into vehicles to try and get rid of the slop on unsuspecting customers.
truck was pulling a 45ft boat home getting 15mpg to michigan from florida when in georgia it started surging and stalling,. took to dealer they supposedly cleaned it all out but the owner kept on having trouble on way home..., he put pick up pump in rear of truck, put a filter at tank with a water separator, put another filter line in line besides the regular one and the water separator filter, still no help...new fuel injector i.e.$1100...still no help.!!! he finally figured it out him self after being to the dealer GM three times!!! it was the sock on the pick up tube in the tank!!! runs like a champ now!!!
