Post Electronic Climate Control Module Problems.

I just bought an '89 K1500 yesterday, drives beautifully, and runs great. But, on my way home I noticed the electronic climate control was clicking, switching from floor to defrost, sometimes shutting completely off, and the display flickered while it did this, didn't flicker any other time. It worked fine for the first 50 or so miles of my 150-mile trip, and then it started acting up, could it be just as simple as replacing the climate control module? I noticed it had a fairly small battery in it when I looked at it, but it was brand new, so I didn't think much of it, could that be the culprit? Not getting enough juice? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance!
