I am looking to purchase a hinged fiberglass? hard cover for my 1998 silverado stepside truck. I intend to paint it the same color as the truck and wish to store tools securely inside bed. I am unable to locate a vendor who carries such an accessory and am looking to see if anyone is aware of such a vendor or if anyone has any suggestions. I really do not want to put a camper top on the truck. Please let me know if anyone is aware of any options or vendors who carry a fiberglass locking hinged bed cover for this vehicle

Have you considered just a locking tool box or boxes that mount on the bed rails?

FWIW, I have a soft tonneau cover on my truck (on it when I bought it). The cover is attached to a crossmember that latches in place and can only be released once the tail gate is open. Since my tail gate locks, I consider it secure enough.

It uses Velcro to seal the sides but with the proper tension, there’s not much give and I doubt anything could be quickly removed.

If you really want a hard cover, I’d suggest locating one that folds instead of one solid piece for the sake of hauling anything longer than the bed.
