Default 2009 Chevy HHR output speed sensor issue

I own a 2009 Chevy HHR, just rebuild the engine and it works great, the car sat in a building for over a year, after installing the engine I noticed a shifting problem, put the scan tool on and I noticed that I am getting a reading of zero on the output sensor at any speed, I replaced it still the same, I checked the wire continuity from the TCM all good, I turn the key on and I am not getting any voltage at the OSS connector? What should it be, does this voltage come from the TCM? Also replaced the trans oil and filter. Thank you for your time

The oss is not fed voltage. It generates its own Ac voltage by magnetic induction. You should be able to read it's voltage output by connecting a Ac voltmeter to the sensor and turning the output shaft quickly. You should get a small Ac voltage output. The faster the speed the larger the voltage

Thank you Tech2 for the response, this sounds like a serious problem, so if I am not getting a voltage from the OSS that means that I have a problem in the transmission with the magnetic induction device that spins on the output shaft causing the OSS to send a voltage to the TCM, I have checked the wiring, I am not home because of the Thanksgiving weekend, I will test this theory as soon as I get back and let you know the results. Thanks, and happy Thanksgiving

Good day, I complete more test and found that I have 1.9 V ac on the yellow wire from the OSS and 1.6v ac on the purple wire at about 4 miles per hour , so this is OK, were does this signal go after the TCM, the ECM?, what pin out number or wire color, I have the service manual, they did not include a wire schematics? Still no reading aside from zero on my scan tool?

What trans do you have?
4t45e
TCM pin 16 purple wire, pin 41 yellow wire

Yes I tested these and have continuity, now I am getting a service code P0700 and P0977. I ordered a scanner that I can actuate solenoids and do more intensive testing. Should have it next week. I dread the idea of working on this transmission while still in the car Thanks for the help
