Default 350 to 305

I have a 94 k1500 with a 350 unfortunately I was told motor is no good after I let a family member use it and he ran it with no oil. I definitely cannot do a rebuilt at the moment. I found a 305 motor and transmission for a deal but I need to know what issues if any I could possibly run into or if this swap can be done.

My understanding is that the the ECM module (computer) will need to be changed out, as those are tuned to the specific engine. So you probably need the ECM from the computer the 305 (5.0L) as well as the engine. There may be other things, I am sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in shortly. My knowledge is applicable for 1996 onward, not totally certain about 94, since I think it predates the ODBC2 interface, but does have a computer.

Is the donor engine from the same year model truck?
