I am working on a 1991 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4. the 4x4 wont engage and the light does not come on in 4x4 shifter housing. I was told it was a quick fix when i bougfht the truck, just wodering if anyone has seen this before. please and thank you

 

9 times out of ten it's the actuator on the front diff. Test the plug at the actuator for power, if you're good there then pull the actuator and test it. It should extend when it has power.

For long term reliability I've put posi - lock cables on my trucks.

 

Thankyou for the info. Just rplacing motor and will try after the motor is in.
