95 1500 z71 shifting issue
Hello all,
I have a 95 chevy z71 1500. A few weeks ago I was driving down the road about 50 mph and started to slow down for a turn. As soon as I started to slow down the truck jerked really hard and felt like it was holding back as if it had shifted to a much lower gear than it should've and then started running fine again. I changed the TPS and its been fine since then until today. I was pulling out of a parking lot and heard a loud squeal and the truck started holding back again as if I had the E brake on. I gave it some gas and it ran fine after that.
any ideas?
really appreciate the help.

Speaking from a just prior experience, investigate thoroughly before shooting a parts cannon. You can look for codes using this method: GM OBD 1 Trouble Code Information
You can also take an infrared digital thermometer and take readings from the front portion of the cat and the temp at the rear. THere are vids on Youtube explaining it. Check the front calipers to makes sure they're releasing as they should.

Check and see if you maybe have an air leak, 4L60E's use vacuum lines to assist in shifting, an air leak could cause it to struggle to shift. Possibly your electrical box connected to the transmission could be the problem too. The vacuum line should be on top of the transmission, the electrical box is on the driver side.
Actually Jacob, the 4l60e's have no vacuum lines attached to the tranny. The rubber line on top of the tranny is to equalize pressure/vent for the tranny...
BG, if you're not getting any codes, or the Cat not heating up/ clogging on you, the symptom is kinda vague to put a fine point on. The best I can tell you is to wait til it does it again and then do the code read and see what comes up.

Thank you guys for the advice. It's not bringing up a code when it does it unfortunately. It did it again yesterday. Best way I can describe it is it sounds/feels like it's gearing down way to low when it's slowing down. If It was a stick it'd feel like shifting to 1st while going 45 mph. It's only done it to me that once pulling out but this was the 3rd time it's done it while slowing down. Of course when I'm trying to diagnose it, it doesn't do it haha. Completely random.
