'95 c1500 no tec,speedometer,no shift.
Picked up this '95 1500, originally from Texas, only rust is light surface rust on the frame which is unheard of for around the salt belt where I am, these don't really exist anymore up here if they've been up here all their life. However have multiple issues to repair, and the biggest one is no tachometer, speedo, gear shifter indicator lights and transmission has 3rd and 2st. No 4th,1st. Has at least 236k maybe more, as odometer stopped turning when Speedo stopped working I'm assuming. What's your guys's thoughts? I was reading anywhere from vehicle speed sensor on the transmission, to ignition switch (all the other gauges work though). Transmission fluid is dirty but not burnt, know transmission will have to be rebuilt eventually just want to figure out if that is now or if I could stretch it out a little longer and if it's another issue causing it not to shift, related to the speedometer not working, being OBD1 I can't just plug a scan tool in and see if the PCM is receiving speed data from the speed sensor ect. Any help is appreciated thanks!.
If it was just speedo not working I’d be checking the VSS & pickup on trans. But tach also dead? Sounds like no input from ECM to dash for anything? Speedo, tach, and gear shift indicators come from ECM/PCM. I think temp comes from separate sensor from what ECM uses. If nothing from ECM it makes me wonder about ECM in general.
So I’d look at grounds, there are several of them, fuses, power.
You can check codes on an OBD1 by grounding 2 of the pins and counting flashes on check engine light. Maybe there’s something there which can help.
