I’m trying to sale my 95 Silverado Z71. Just replaced all the smog components to get to pass emissions (last year). I’ve had it posted for a couple of weeks now with limited response. How much should I be pricing it at. All the research I have done online is all over the place, and I thought I was being pretty reasonable. Here are the details. 1995 Silverado Z71, 237k mi., 5.7L 350, extended cab, automatic. Power windows and door locks. Everything stock. Runs and drives great. The only issue is the a/c doesn’t work. Not sure why, it’s never been my primary vehicle so I’ve never bothered to fix it. The paint is also fading on the hood and top of the cab. It’s a little ugly and it not in pristine condition, but I would say normal wear and tear. Body is straight, no rust. Any advice would be much appreciated.

 

How many pictures did you include in the ad? Make sure the truck is clean, and take a lot of pictures from different angles. Inside, outside, engine bay, etc. Also, where are you located? Location may be a factor if trucks (or older trucks) aren't as popular in the area.

 

Do you know why the a/c has failed? Could be a big $$ for new owner if they want a/c and that's something most folks expect theses days. You didn't mention your asking $$

 

Yeah, no AC will drop the price considerably. Same with a stick. Everyone wants an automatic these days. Lots of folk never learned to shift a stick. Hard to believe.

I was asking $3400 for it. I never bothered to fix the a/c because I only drove it to run to the Home Depot. I figured a/c would cost a few hundred bucks to fix at most. It is an automatic

 

That's a good looking truck. I'd say those are some good, honest pictures. Besides the ac, the only other thing I can think of is the mileage. A lot of people are scared of vehicles with more than 100k miles. From the un-blurred portion of the plate, I see you're in Georgia (I just moved to Georgia from Texas). Aren't vehicles 1995 and older exempt from emissions? I'd think that would be a major selling point.

 

It’s weird in GA. Some counties don’t require emissions, and some do. Mine exempts them after 25 years. This is the last year that it is required. Yeah, I get the over 100k thing, but 350s are good motors as long as you maintain them. This thing is solid...no smoke or unusual noises at all. Still strong.

 

If you don't have to sell it you can keep an ad updated, and hang onto it in the mean time. Then if you still have a hard time finding a buyer, lower the price a few hundred after a few months and keep doing that until you feel you absolutely can't take any less.
