Default Engine swap compatibility

My son lost the engine in his '97 1500 and it has a totally rebuilt 4L60E in it.

We have a still very good running 1995 Suburban with a 350 and rusty frame (a few non factory holes in it) with a bad tranny.

I am wondering is it possible to do the swap and not worry about trans bolting up or sensors going from a OBD I engine to a OBD II computer diagnostic system.

We are planning to freshen up the Vortec heads and swap them over so that all the top end bolts up.

Thanks in advance!

If you had a 350 in the 97, you ought to be able to move the engine over from the 95, swap to the fuel injection system off of the 97 instead of the MAF from the 95, and it should all be good to go. However, the 95 uses TBI, and the 97 uses per cylinder fuel injection, so the intake manifold, computers and harnesses will be a lot different between those year models.

If the 97 had a different size engine than the 5.7L (350), then the intake manifolds won't fit, but I would still look at a salvage/junk yard to see if you could get the intake setup for a 5.7L with fuel injection... Or you will need to transplant the computers and wiring harness from the 95 into the 97, but that may be problematic due to the significant changes that happened in 96 when everything went to ODB2.
