Default Front Shocks

Sorry but I am still a little paranoid on this and want to see if anyone has replaced the front shocks on a 1995 Chevy c-1500 two wheel drive and had unforeseen problems that I should know about.... I just don't want any surprises.... and have watched a few videos... and yes, I have changed shocks in my teen days, many decades ago....

So.... basically... jack up... put in jack stands to hold front end up in the air..... remove wheels.... perhaps spray nuts/bolts down with penetrant..... remove the top nut... remove the bottom two bolts.... let it slide out.... prep the new shock... slide it back up in place... loosely tighten a the nuts and tighten them ...... done deal?

Questions: I will have the front end off the ground with two jack stands placed near the middle of the front axle, I presume on each side of the oil pan as shown in one video... Do I need a jack to support the end of the axle near where the shock will come out and the new one will go back in?

One video showed a guy struggling to have enough clearance to remove the old shock and then also found the new one was too big to go back in.... Are the old original shocks on this going to essentially fall out the bottom? And yes, I bought two Monroe OEM shocks to go back in.... should I have a problem? One other guy shown in video had to move the coil spring..... is that a possible problem? If I remember right, the old ones essentially come out the bottom easily and the new ones go back up easily too?????

Is the biggest problem going to be what we had in the old days? That being the rusted bolt removal? and if so, can I just use my 4.5 inch grinder with a cutting wheel on it to cut the bolts on at least the bottom? I know there might be clearance issues for a grinder/cut off on the top..... but a sawzall if the nut does round off?

Any other suggestions or problems to watch out for? All are appreciated.... and I thank you..... hell to get old....

AND A PS..... It is too cold to do this outside in the driveway in MN now... so I will need to do this in one of my heated garage stalls which is OK... but I might wait until next spring to do this... my fear..... get the process started and have unforeseen problems... and then the truck is sitting there unfinished and undriveable in one of my two garage stalls.. If I wait until spring and do this in the driveway, who cares if I screw it up...... The problem with my front passenger side shock is that it is leaking and I suspect will eventually stop leaking when... well you know... .... can I still drive this occasionally with that kind of a problem? This is NOT even a daily driver.... it is used once or twice a month for hauling plywood a couple of miles from Menards... Can I still use it with a bad front shock to do this until next spring?

Thanks again....
