Default fuel guage reads over full

I recently pull off the bed of my truck to work on the suspension. While I was there I decided to replace the fuel pump. The pump worked great for a few weeks then the fuel gauge started to read over full. The pump still works but the gauge still reads over full. I thought maybe a ground problem so I removed, cleaned and reinstalled the ground wire from the pump, still issues with the gauge. Any ideas?

Did you install an aftermarket pump? These usually cause problems and don't last very long. You should only use Delco or Delphi pumps.

I work at an auto parts store. I did install an after market pump. I've sold a hundred of these for Chevy's and I can't recall any coming back as defective. Never heard of a gauge problem either. Thanks for the response.
