High Low Side Pressure in AC 1995 K1500 Single Cab
I have a 1995 K1500 Single Cab with a 5.7L. The truck is kind of a beater and is just an extra vehicle that I work on for fun. Recently decided to recharge the AC and found it was leaking from a seal inside the compressor. Seemed straight forward to replace so I bought it. After more research I realized I would need to replace the condenser and the accumulator. I also decided to replace the in and out hoses coming from the compressor after I pulled the old orifice out of the condenser and found it full of metal flakes and grey goo. I wanted to replace whatever I could get to. After replacing everything I pulled 30psi of vacuum, got no leaks after 45 mins and then proceeded to pull a vacuum for an hour. After that I started to charge it. Opened the low side on the gauges and started to push r134a into the system. The compressor began to kick on and off as expected but it continued to do so after I added the second can and then half of the third. I was at about 25 or so oz in the system, it calls for 32oz, and my low side was reading about 90-110 psi consistently with dropping when the compressor kicked on. The High side was around 200. and shot up to about 350 when the compressor cycled and then settled back to around 200 pretty quickly. I think the issue is with my pressure switches. At the accumulator I have the AC clutch cycle switch. Its new but could be defective. At the compressor I have another switch. the one they sold me is blue and is the high pressure switch. I am not sure if this is the right switch. I pulled the one out of the factory compressor and it is red. I doesnt have a part number or any distinguishing features and looks just like the other switch installed into the new compressor. Online they have a low switch and high switch available mounted at the compressor that look identical. When I jump the connector going to this switch the compressor cycles and stays engaged with the low pressure dropping but the high pressure jumping up dangerously high. I also have a pressure switch at the condenser that doesnt seem to do anything if I jump it. Additionally my climate control module is trash. I went to the junkyard and found a circuit board that looked good and got the ac switch to activate and to switch back and forth between cold and hot as well as between vent and defrost. If anyone thinks they have any idea what might be the issue help would be greatly appreciated. I have replaced everything but the evaporator. Also I checked the relay and fuses everything was good.
Thanks in advance
