Hoping something will finally go right
I have a 1994 Chevy Silverado K1500 that the motor and transmission are completely done and a 1998 gmc Sonoma that the only salvageable parts are the motor and transmission would the vortex v6 swap with the 5.7 350 in the Silverado both have the 4L60e transmission.
And both are 4wd.
And both are 4wd.

There were plenty of C/K 1500 trucks that were built with v6 engines from this era, so on a base level it’s not an impossible swap. The primary things you’ll have to pay attention to are the flex plates, mounts, positioning of the transmission relative to the engine, clearances of the exhaust manifolds and whether or not they’ll bolt up to the existing exhaust, radiator fan and shroud…. the list goes on.
I’d recommend getting both engines out and side by side to compare the differences and take measurements on the trucks.
However the primary challenge is going to be the PCM - the 1994 operates on OBD1 standards whereas the 1998 operates on OBD2. The 1998 PCM will not be compatible with any control or anti-theft systems on the 1994.
There are aftermarket solutions for swaps such as these, but you’ll have to do your research to find them.
You could also find donor parts/harnesses from a pre-1996 v6 engine and use those for the engine you have. The intake manifold, computer controls/sensors and possibly other parts will need to be swapped.
IMO, the best way to approach this is to make a checklist of everything that needs to be done and then work through each item one at a time.
Patience will be your most valuable tool.
