Ignition problem
Have a problem with my c1500 1990. No spark at all. And with some troubleshooting i notice that i have 12v power at the coil with no key in the ignition/off, and no power to the coil at run and start?
Can not find any info about this problem anywhere. Anybody with some ideas?
thanks.

I would suspect an ignition switch is maladjusted ( out of adjustment ) or defective.
But if you have 12 volts at the coil with the key in your pocket, the battery WILL go dead quickly.
Does the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key to the "run position" (not crank) ???
Need more info. This TBI system is simple.
US Marine ( thank you for your service )
Your 98 is a Vortec and a different system all together. What is yours doing ??? I have a 98 as well

@ Terminal Frost..... I have been able to get mine running. Mine was a defective new ignition coil, and I replaced my original distributor with an aluminum aftermarket, and reset the timing. Running strong again with 341,000 miles....

I pulled my C2500 from the grave. One of the 3 issues I found was a defective coil. I have an aluminum replacement distributor as well. Bike Week got in the way last weekend. Maybe install it this weekend :-)
Glad to hear you were able to get yours fixed.
