Default Needing Info on my Chevy Truck Rear End.

I bought a 93 Chevy Truck Single Cab 1500 and trying to identify the gear ratio and other information about it with cast numbers. I can't find any information about this rear end from what plant it was made at, when, where, and gear ratio. If anyone can help me with the numbers I appreciate it.

Numbers: 15555679

You can try the VIN number look up. It should tell you where your Chevy was manufactured. Might be on the driver's side door sticker too. You can find out the axle ratio easy. Just jack a rear tire up and chalk the tire and the driveshaft, and count the number of driveshaft turns with one spin of the wheel. Likely a 2.42 or 3.73 ratio, but could be a 3.08.

Is that black stuff on the axle undercoating?

If the RPO sticker is still in the glove box, look for a code that starts with G or H, then match it up to the corresponding code at the link below. The G codes start on page 85.
