Default Oil cooler lines ?

I posted some questions a while ago about this. 1990 K2500 , 350 engine. I want to eliminate the lines because of leakage. I see where there is an oil filter adapter to use that eliminates the holes for the oil cooler lines . However has anyone actually just used the original adapter and just looped the two openings for the coolant lines in the adapter?? Is that even possible?

Why not just change out the lines?

Because I want to eliminate them and not worry with them leaking again which I am sure they would eventually leak.
