1997 5.7 Silverado random P0300. Cold start engine runs fine but after driving for awhile in closed loop, shut engine off, a immediate restart creates a P0300 and engine runs very rough. Let sit overnight and engine starts and runs fine until a repeat of a immediate restart and problem reoccurs. Misfire never occurs unless the ignition is cycled.

The dreaded OBD II Code P0300!!. Just got done repairing a 2005 Chevy Cavalier with a P0300 and code P0340 on the 2.2L Ecotec. Bad coil-pack unit, but your 1997 Slvd. doesnt have those. I'd go with a bad injection spider, maybe a bad O2 sensor. Are you losing any coolant?
